A closer look at the specifications in the tables quickly reveals a significant difference between the two models to the observant reader: the cargo space of the Model Y is almost 300 litres larger than the one of the Model 3. The reason for this lies in the fact that the Model 3 is a lighter and slimmer coupé overall than the Model Y, which is built more like an SUV. If you are more into agility and compactness, you will be better off with the Model 3. It is smaller, more nimble and generally a little faster. The charging time is also somewhat shorter and consumes less electricity.

Things look different when spaciousness is your top priority. The model Y offers you plenty of it and provides you with room for storing all sorts of things. However, the increased bulk of the car does not come at the expense of acceleration or range, which are comparable to those of the Model 3.

In comparison, the Model Y is a more complex car to build than the Model 3. This is reflected in the purchase costs, which are considerably higher for the Model Y than for the Model 3.
